The Pixiebob is yet another bobtailed cat breed intended to bring the wild bobcat into your living room. This one was developed in the late 1980s by Carol Ann Brewer, who used local cats purchased from farms in the American Northwest to produce a stocky, bobtailed cat with an agouti-like spotted tabby pattern. The breed is named in honour of one of the earliest cats to display the semi-ticked coat, a female named Pixie. By 1989, there was a distinct standard and the breed was breeding true, and TICA accepted the breed in championship in 1998.

The Pixiebob is a fun, intelligent cat with a dog-like level of interest in people. They wag their little tails, play fetch, walk on harnesses, and even compete in feline agility! Although they can be wary of strangers and struggle to tolerate large crowds, the Pixiebob embodies the athletic, outdoorsy, relaxed spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

Type & judging remarks
The Pixiebob is unique among recognized cat breeds in that it encourages polydactyly, or multiple toes. Its big, thumbed paws give it a wild look, along with its heavy brow, ear tufts, and short tail. It is a heavy, muscular cat with a long body and longer hind legs than front legs. The face is “pear-shaped” and in longhairs, should have heavy facial hair that resembles mutton chops.
