Notes
The bolognese, named after the Italian city it originates from, is an old type of breed, that was famous in the 1100's for its beauty and friendly disposition. It was often given as a gift between nobles, and considered to be among the nicest things someone could give away. The breed can be seen on many medieval paints and bears a close resemblance to the modern breed, with the exception that back then, the breed could be black and white while only solid white is allowed today.
The bolognese is a small breed with a calm temperament, somewhat reserved towards strangers. The head is of medium length, the skull appearing broader because of the high set ears. The muzzle is short and powerful. The eyes should have a lively expression. The body has a straight back and well developed chest, with only slight tuck up. The coat is long, thick and wavy and should not lay close to the body.
