Beatrix is an English name that means "bringer of joy". It most likely comes from the Latin "Viatrix", which means either "voyager" or "traveller". It was also the name of a 4th century saint who was strangled to death after the beheading of her brothers. The name was eventually altered to "Beatus" to resemble the Latin word for "blessed".
