Mariska is thought to be a Hungarian diminutive of the name Maria, and means "of the sea". In Nathaniel Hawthorne's third novel, "The Blithedale Romance", there is a tenebrous maiden by the name of Priscilla renowned for her appearances as the Veiled Lady. Under this diaphonous veil one will supposidly find the most tenderly beautiful girl in all the world. Mariska epitomizes this legend, don't you think?
