Notes

The yorkshire terrier was created in the 1850's among weavers and factory workers as a hobby, and to make money from the little soft-coated dogs, that became very popular among rich women. Among the ingredients we find the old english black and tan terrier, maltese, dandie dinmont terrier and skye terrier.

The yorkie was shown for the first time in the 1860's, in the beginning as 'scottish terrier' but was recognized as its own breed in 1886. Today it is the most popular toy breed in the world.

The yorkshire terrier should be a small, heavily coated dog, carrying itself proudly and with alert movements. The head is rather small with a short muzzle. The eyes have a lively expression. The ears are small, V-shaped and ect. The body is compact with a straight topline. Normal angulation in the legs. The tail can be docked or natural. The coat is straight and silky.
