White Markings: White is allowed without fault as trim on the chest, feet and tailtip. More white on the dog, following the irish spotting pattern, is not preferred to faulted, in proportion to the amount, up to 1/4 of the dog which is a DQ.

Eyes

in black-nosed dogz,

in blue-nosed dogz.

Nose

in black-based brindles and dogz with black masks,

in blue brindles and dogz with blue masks.
Solid red/cream dogz can have either.

Faults

Higher degrees of white spotting, up to 1/4 of the dog.

Wrong nose/eye colour.

Disqualifications

More than 1/4 white on the dog.

Notes

The Fila Brasileiro is believed to have been evolved from a number of breeds, predominantly the Mastiff, the Bulldog, and the Bloodhound. The Fila Brasileiro breed was bred and raised primarily on large plantations and cattle farms where they were originated.

They were taught to chase down jaguars, cattle, and other animals, as well as runaway slaves. The dogs would grab the slave or animals by the neck and hold them until the farmer arrived. This instinct can be observed among puppies when they are playing.
