Coat

Solid:

Sable: Any of the sable combinations in any of the patterns.

Notes

The chart polski has been found in Poland since the early 1500's, long before either borzois or greyhounds had been imported. It has asian origins and is believed to be related to the saluki. Originally bred to hunt hare, fox and wolf, the modern chart polski is mostly kept as a companion dog. Its popularity has ranged from being the most important breed in the country to wandering on the brink of extinction. The standard was written as late as 1989.

The chart polski should appear large, strong and muscular, heavier than most sighthounds. The head is long, powerful and dry. A roman nose is desired. The ears are of medium size and set at eye height. The neck is long, muscular, beautifully arched and should carry the head high and proud. The chest should be very deep, with a gently curved topline. The tail is long and thick, preferably carried with a curled end. The coat is short and thick, longer on the tail.
