Coat

Solid:

Sable: Red and chocolate sable is accepted in any of the patterns.
Grizzle: Grey, Red or Liver grizzle (Silver or regular).
Tan: One of these combinations, always in the traditional pattern

Notes

The greenland dog is said to be the breed that most closely resembles a wolf, and sometimes it can be hard to tell their skeletons apart! This sturdy breed does not do well as a companion dog, but requires large amounts of stimulation, especially physical exercise. It is bred to survive the cold and harsh climate of the north and does not fancy heat.

The greenland dog should give the impression of being very powerful, built for endurance and hard work in arctic climates. The head has a small but visible stop, medium length muzzle with straight top. The ears are rather small, triangular with rounded tips and erect. The body is powerful and compact, slightly rectangular with deep chest and slight tuck up. Straight frontlegs, hind legs slightly but clearly visible angulated. The tail is thick and bushy, carried curved or curled over the back. The coat is of medium length, longer on the neck and tail.
The greenland dog can be friendly and sweet, but it also has a strong guarding instinct. It is allowed to come in all colours, but may never be albino. Typical are the small ears, curled tail and thick coat.
