Notes

The alaskan klee kai was developed in the 1970's by Linda Spurlin to be a miniature version of the majestic northern spitzes. It wasn't until 1988 that the breed was made available for the public, and since then the Alaskan klee kai has grown in popularity. It was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1997.

The alaskan klee kai resembles a miniature version of the alaskan husky, with a distinct mask and an alert expression. The breed is considered to be active and agile, as well as a good watchdog. It comes in three sizes and a variety of colours.
The head should be clean with moderate stop. When viewed from the side, the skull and stop taper to form a broad-based wedge. The muzzle should be the same length as the skull, or slightly shorter. The ears are strongly erect with rounded tips. The neck is of medium length, arched and carried proudly. The body should be slightly longer than it is tall, with a just slightly arched topline. The legs have moderate angulation. The tail should preferably hang is a loose curl. The coat should be short and thick, longer on the neck and tail.
