Notes

Also known as the Grosser Münsterländer. A longhaired German pointing dog that can trace it's origins back to the Medieval times. It has the same origins as the small münsterländer, but has also been crossed with, among other breeds, black and white longhaired german pointers. It was recognized in 1919 and has a good reputation as an allround hunting dog, mainly as a pointing dog but can also work as a retriever. It should be lively and easy to train.

The large munsterlander should give the impression of being powerful and muscular, yet elegant and noble. The head is noble with slight stop and long, powerful muzzle. The eyes should be as dark as possible, with a lively expression. The ears are broad, set well apart and carried close to the head. The neck is strong and with an elegant arch. The body is long and muscular, with deep chest and short, strong and straight back. Slight tuck up. The frontlegs should be straight, the hind well angulated. The tail is set high and carried horizontally or slighty above the back and well covered in hair.
