Notes

The croatian sheepdog, or 'hrvatski ovcar' as its called in its home country, is closely related to the mudi and mostly found close to the hungarian borders. The breed is believed to be very old, but there a few traces of its history.

Unlike the mudi, the croatian sheepdog is always black in colour. It should appear medium sized, slightly rectangular and highly agile. The head is rather light, with the muzzle slightly shorter than the skull. Little stop, with rounded cheeks and slightly rounded tip of muzzle. The eyes have a lively expression. The ears are medium sized, triangular and set rather wide apart. The body is rather long, with deep chest and short back. Slight tuck up. The tail is set rather high and can be hanging or carried rather high. This breed comes with a natural, docked or natural bobtail, and all are judged equally. The coat is short on the face and frontsides of the legs, on the rest of the dog long, thick and wavy or curly.
