Notes

The Norfolk terrier was recognised in 1932, but as a variety of the Norwich terrier. They were separated in 1964, but breeders had been breeding them as two different breeds for long before that.

The Norfolk terrier is an alert little dog, and one of the smallest terrier breeds. It should never want to fight with other dogs, despite being very lively and active.

The Norfolk terrier should have a broad skull, with wedge-shaped muzzle and marked stop. The muzzle should be shorter than the skull. The eyes are dark with a lively expression. The ears are of medium size, V-shaped and carried tipped over close to the head. The neck is of medium length and powerful. The body is compact with short back and straight topline. The front legs are short and straight, the hind well angulated. The tail is carried high but not too far over the back. The coat is hard, wirey, straight and with a small moustache, beard and eyebrows.
