Notes

The Orange Shorthair, known to fans as the Oshie, is a classic Petz breed. Its unique, anxious personality attracts many people to the breed, and their wild, nervous antics (ranging from timid shivering to panicked sprinting) are hilarious and entertaining. It’s plumed tail is valued by mixie breeders, although the unique pear shape to the body often results in unusual offspring. Although it may take more effort to compete with an Oshie than a more tractable personality, they are well-loved in the community and are a staple in pose and PKC shows.

It's generally believed that PF Magic were aiming for the American Wirehair when they made this file. As a result we use the colours of the American Wirehair for the Orange Shorthair, with the Smoke variety representing not only true smokes but the original unhexed pattern.

Type & judging remarks
The Orange Shorthair has a rounded head, medium size ears and large eyes with prominent eye rims. The chest is small, rising up to the larger rump. The legs are proportionate to the body with small, compact paws. The tail is thick and well plumed. The coat is somewhat hard to the touch, sometimes even wirey. The expression should be nervous or slightly fearful, rather than terrified, calm, or aggressive; the perfume pose is allowed and unfaulted, although natural poses are preferred.
